Security Professional of the Year Award

East Bay Private Security Industry Leader Honored with the

Al Howenstein Security Professional of the Year Award

Award given to David Travers for his leadership, advocacy and tireless commitment on behalf of industry

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – On October 28, the California Association of Licensed Security, Agencies, Guards & Associates (CALSAGA), will honor David Travers, President and Qualified Manager of Guardian Security Agency in Concord, with the Al Howenstein Security Professional of the Year Award for his leadership, advocacy and tireless commitment on behalf of CALSAGA and the private security industry.

Mr. Travers is only the second recipient of the award – the first being the namesake of the award, Al Howenstein, who was one of the founding members of CALSAGA and someone who dedicated his life to advocating and improving the professionalism of the private security industry.

“I can’t think of someone more deserving than David to receive this award”, said CALSAGA President Roy Rahn.  “David represents everything that this award symbolizes, and on behalf of our entire membership, I want to congratulate David and his family on this remarkable achievement.”

Throughout his remarkable career, Travers has served as a firefighter, emergency medial technician, sales trainer and manager, reserve police officer, undercover narcotics officer and business owner, among other things.  Since 1992, he has owned and operated Guardian Security Agency in Concord.

In 1994, seeing that the security industry had some major problems confronting it, Travers teamed up with Howenstein on his newly formed CALSAGA, where for the last 16 years, has volunteered for CALSAGA as Northern California Vice President, President, Chair of the Legislative Committee and as the association liaison between the industry and the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services – all in an effort to raise the professionalism of the private security industry and represent the concerns of California businesses.

“I wish our organization had 100 David’s volunteering their time”, said CALSAGA Executive Director, Jeff Flint.  “I have always admired his devotion, honesty and compassion, and I’m thrilled that he is being recognized for his contributions to CALSAGA and our industry.  He has left an eternal mark.”
